Vasuthi’s Story

CAMPAIGN PERIOD: 12-21 MAY 2021

Vasuthi’s husband died of Covid-19 on 9th January 2021, leaving behind Vasuthi and their 4 children. Vasuthi works as an operator in a factory in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam and earns a gross salary of RM1,200 per month. Her eldest son did not complete his studies and does odd jobs, two others are still schooling and the youngest is five.

What Vasuthi and her eldest son earn is not sufficient for their rent, utilities and they struggle to provide decent food for the family. The only transport the family has is an old motorbike Vasuthi relies on to get her to work. The family is in debt and are unsure what the future holds.
