Stephanie’s Story

CAMPAIGN PERIOD: 17-23 JULY 2021

Stephanie lost her husband, Joshua A/L Perumal due to COVID19 complications early July 2021. She and her children aged 15,12,10 and 4 years old were COVID19 positive and quarantined at home. Her late husband suffered from heart and kidney diseases that halted his work as a construction contractor and received monthly OKU disability payments.

The resourceful Stephanie started a home-based food catering business and when the pandemic hit, she resorted to cleaning services instead. Due to the movement restrictions, that too had to be stopped.

The rent is RM7,000 behind but the landlord allowed the family to pay whenever it was possible. Nevertheless, there are many expenses due especially the children’s schooling. Stephanie receives a modest RM500 aid and food baskets from a church but her most urgent need is cash for survival. Due to his passing, Stephanie may not be receiving her late husband’s OKU assistance.

Through the generosity of donors, Stephanie received a total of RM62,050.
