Sagayamary’s Story

CAMPAIGN PERIOD: 21-27 JAN 2022

Sagayamary is a single mother of 4 teenage children between the ages of 12 to 19 years old. She’s a cancer patient with Stage 4 breast cancer and is undergoing radiotherapy. Sagayamary has had 15 sessions of radiotherapy and her last session was in December this year. She has another 8 sessions to go. Thankfully, all her medical bills are borne by the Government and medication sponsored by Majlis Kanser Nasional.

As the sole breadwinner in the family, she was a cook at Home of Peace and earns RM 1,300 per month. She also supplemented her income by driving for GRAB. Her means to earn a living came to a halt when she started her chemotherapy sessions which rendered her weak and unable to work. With no income but rental of RM 600 for their house and living expenses, Sagayamary has depleted her savings.

From the generosity of our donors throughout the campaign, Sagayamary and her children have received much-needed assistance while she goes through her treatment. They received a total of RM25,974 during the campaign.
