CAMPAIGN PERIOD: 19-25 JUNE 2021
Isaac Khew is in his mid-30s and had been diagnosed with Polio since young that was affecting his finger. He holds an OKU card and receives some assistance from the government. Wanting to be independent, Isaac has been driving with Grab but was forced to abandon it due to a dual cataract diagnosis.
A government hospital is willing to waive surgery charges, but Isaac needs to purchase the corrective lenses on his own costing RM2,400. His eyesight has worsened recently, and it could take months before he can start earning again.
Our team has verified Isaac’s situation including sighting all the necessary documentation. The GIFT10 application form had to be filled out by his neighbour as Isaac was unable to read it.

Update: 26 June 2021
Through the kind generosity of our donors, a total of RM14,937 was raised throughout the campaign. Along with the running of this campaign, our team of volunteers helped Isaac in practical ways as well. From ferrying him to medical appointments to expediting the process of his treatment. As a result, Isaac will receive his much-needed eye surgery on the 29th of June instead. To top it all off, an eye specialist very graciously offered to take on Isaac’s case gratis after hearing his inspiring story.
