Alexander Muthu’s Story

CAMPAIGN PERIOD: 14-20 AUG 2021

Alexander Muthu was managing an optical shop in PJ for about eight years but was laid off due to the decline in business caused by the movement restrictions. In May this year, his mother suffered a stroke, and the family struggled to pay for treatments and sustain themselves. Finding a replacement job was not easy for Alex but his sister and nephew helped.

Tragically, Alex’s sister succumbed to COVID at the end of June and a few days later, his mother too passed on. During this period, Alex had contracted the virus and was warded at the Klang General Hospital. Though he is recovering, he is extremely weak and is heavily dependent on medications. Alex suffers from Gout and finds it difficult to stand or walk. All these are weighing heavily on his mind, especially the loss of his loved ones.

GIFT10 was informed by a few people that Alex has always been a pleasant and caring person. It is hard to imagine the true extent of his struggles.
