Adam & Kristina’s Story

CAMPAIGN PERIOD: 25 SEP – 1 OCT 2021

Adam, Kristina, and their children aged 9, 8 and 2 live in an Orang Asli settlement in Johor. Adam is a fisherman and is illiterate. The family depends on their boat for their livelihood but just before the MCO, the boat’s 10-year-old engine became faulty. Recently, the boat too had been badly damaged, and Adam is unable to pay for the repairs.

During this time, Adam has been catching crabs to make a living, but the movement restrictions have not been easy for him to find customers. Without the boat to generate income, the family’s future seems bleak.

The cost to repair the boat and replace the engine is between RM10,000 and RM15,000 and this is beyond the reach of the family. They are also finding it hard to provide adequately for the family.

Adam and Kristina received a total of RM12,283 in contributions from this week-long campaign.

Update: 6 October 2021

With the GIFT10 contributions, Adam was able to repair his boat to continue his fishing business.

“Saya ingin berucap terima kasih kepada semua penderma dari GIFT10 dalam sumbangan untuk membeli boat dan enjin supaya saya boleh menguruskan kehidupan dan menanpung keluarga saya sebagai nelayan.”

Adam & Kristina

“I would like to thank all the donors from GIFT10 in their donations to buy the boat and engine so that I can manage my life and support my family as a fisherman.”
