CAMPAIGN PERIOD: 1-6 JAN 2022
Jasper and Welma disposed of their struggling business 5 years ago and both pivoted to Grab as drivers to provide for their family. They have 2 school-going children, Jessel and Jamima.
When the pandemic hit in March last year, demand for Grab cars tanked and they found themselves in financial difficulty again. With their experience in transportation, they were able to find reprieve by selling and delivering frozen Dim Sum. The demand was encouraging but with the rise of competition from the social media marketing in frozen food items, they soon saw their endeavour slow down. With the increase in competition, Jasper and Welma turned to selling snacks and other food items through the multiple lockdowns.
Unfortunately, Jasper and Welma was infected by the Covid-19 virus and were hospitalised. Due to this, they were unable to work for 45 days. This couldn’t have come at a worse time when they are just trying to get back on their feet. They have been unable to make ends meet and are in arrears for the house rental and car payments.
Through the generosity of donors, Jasper’s family received a total of RM10,303 during this campaign.
